PHILOSOPHY

Faux-Plazas are public spaces that outwardly resemble civic squares, plazas, or gathering places yet fail to attract sustained social activity or develop a meaningful communal identity.

While often designed with aesthetic or symbolic intentions, these spaces frequently lack the functional programs, human-scale experiences, and social incentives that encourage people to linger, interact, and form connections.

The concept of the Faux-Plaza argues that successful public space depends not merely on physical openness or visual appeal, but on its ability to support everyday human behavior and cultivate a sense of belonging within the surrounding community.

Plaza Lucent  Voisin II

Featured In: Faux Plazas - The Radiant City Reimagined: A personal reinterpretation of Le Corbusier's Plan Voisin

Le Corbusier’s Plan Voisin and the Radiant City model has fallen short as a utopian solution for urban dwelling.

Plaza Lucent is a city designed to eliminate the issues present in Corbusian urbanism, created based on the responses to Plan Voisin made by architects and the plan itself.

Akita Heritage Center

Awards: 全国高校生建築提案コンテスト2025 優秀賞

The Akita Heritage Center is a proposed facility designed to attract tourists to Akita City and serve as a community hub for citizens.

The building is comprised of five "petals" forming the shape of a cherry blossom, and utilizes locally-sourced Akita-sugi wood.

Each petal has a unique functionality, such as a cafe, tourist information center, cultural history museum, library, and an event hall.

Rising 423 m (1390 ft) above 1390 6th Avenue of Midtown Manhattan, 1390sixth is a supertall residential tower, just blocks from Central Park.

Its crisp, rhythmic façade of uniform horizontal lines emphasizes both height and restraint, reflecting a disciplined architectural language amidst the city’s most iconic skyline. The building brings refined modernism to one of New York’s most desired addresses.

AUREOLE

Taking inspiration from Metabolist design, AUREOLE is a 256 unit residential complex that utilizes a plug-in tube design that is connected to the core.
